Death to fascist onslaught!
After harassing and manhandling the protesting students of Jamia Millia Islamia, the administration has crossed every height of shamelessness as the proctor office has officially pasted a list at the centenary gate (gate number 13), law faculty gate and other places of the campus mentioning name, contact information, address, course and other personal details of 17 students who were protesting against the shrinkage of campus democracy since Monday and were detained yesterday and later suspended by the fascist Jamia administration. This is a grave violation of the right to privacy of these students and puts the lives of these students directly at risk. There are teenaged women students also whose details have been revealed this way. Even personal phone numbers of some female students have been made public. If anything happens to these students, the Jamia administration will be solely responsible as it has allowed goons and reactionary elements to target these students who were protesting for just demands.
The fascist Godi media has again found an opportunity to vilify JMI and target progressive and justice-loving students of this university and this time too the administration is fully colluding with them through such shameless acts.
This act exposes the true character of the varsity administration and leaves no doubt about the fact that how deeply the fascist forces have infiltrated into our educational institutions across the country. Making personal details of the concerned students public is another way to intimidate the students and suppress every attempt of resistance. Regressive administration puts women students under hostel curfew in the name of security and takes away their right to access the Campus and on the other hand it makes the details of its students public and puts them in danger. In both the cases, the intent of the administration is pretty clear, it wants to curb the democratic rights of the students and crush every attempt of dissent.
Disha Students’ Organization strongly condemns the breech of privacy of the students by repressive Jamia administration and firmly stands with the students of JMI who are standing against the fascist onslaught. We believe that making the personal details of the students public is a direct onslaught on those students who have been resisting the oppressive university administration. We demand a strict action against the Proctor and Vice-Chancellor who have put the lives of these students at risk. We demand that the suspension order of students must be revoked and the proctorial list containing the personal details of these students must be removed from all the campus places and platforms with immediate effect. Strong action must be taken against those security personnels and police officers who harassed and manhandled the students.
