Jamia Proctor down down!Death to fascist onslaught!After harassing and manhandling the protesting students of Jamia Millia Islamia, the administration has crossed every height of shamelessness as the proctor office has officially pasted a list at the centenary gate (gate number 13), law faculty gate and other places of the campus mentioning name, contact information, address, course and other personal details of 17 students who were protesting against the shrinkage of campus democracy since Monday and were detained yesterday and later suspended by the fascist Jamia administration. This is a grave violation of the right to privacy of these students and puts the lives of these students directly at risk. There are teenaged women students also whose details have been revealed this way. Even personal phone numbers of some female students have been made public. If anything happens to these students, the Jamia administration will be solely responsible as it has allowed goons and reactionary elements to target these students who were protesting for just demands.The fascist Godi media has again found an opportunity to vilify JMI and target progressive and justice-loving students of this university and this time too the administration is fully colluding with them through such shameless acts.This act exposes the true character of the varsity administration and leaves no doubt about the fact that how deeply the fascist forces have infiltrated into our educational institutions across the country. Making personal details of the concerned students public is another way to intimidate the students and suppress every attempt of resistance. Regressive administration puts women students under hostel curfew in the name of security and takes away their right to access the Campus and on the other hand it makes the details of its students public and puts them in danger. In both the cases, the intent of the administration is pretty clear, it wants to curb the democratic rights of the students and crush every attempt of dissent.Disha Students' Organization strongly condemns the breech of privacy of the students by repressive Jamia administration and firmly stands with the students of JMI who are standing against the fascist onslaught. We believe that making the personal details of the students public is a direct onslaught on those students who have been resisting the oppressive university administration. We demand a strict action against the Proctor and Vice-Chancellor who have put the lives of these students at risk. We demand that the suspension order of students must be revoked and the proctorial list containing the personal details of these students must be removed from all the campus places and platforms with immediate effect. Down with Sanghi JMI administration!Long live student unity!Students of Jamia Millia Islamia gathered on 16th December 2024 to protest against the heinous police brutality that took place on 15th December 2019 when Delhi Police entered the campus and seriously injured students while they were studying in Zakir Hussain library. Despite all efforts of the administration to stop the protest from occurring by closing the campus under the guise of maintenance. Then four student activists—Saurabh, Jyoti, Fuzail and Niranjan were served show cause notices by Jamia administration on the basis of memorandums issued by the Registrar on 22nd August 2022 and 29th November 2024 banning any sort of gatherings, protests, and raising of slogans against the government and its agencies. A notice was also issued by the administration penalising wall writings, graffiti, and putting up posters on the walls of the campus.After a disciplinary committee was set up against these activists recently, a protest call was given to gather at Central Canteen in gate no. 7 on Monday, in which various student organisations and common students took part. There was increased presence of guards and higher officials from administration to stop this protest as compared to earlier. The protest took the form of a sit-in and is continuing despite the shameful and repressive measures taken by the Jamia administration from Day 1 to curb it by turning off lights at the protest site, locking bathrooms, shutting down Central Canteen, and the absence of any female guards during the night despite female students being present at the protest site, etc. Yesterday, the administration's goons that were roaming around the campus since the protest started were successful in causing a clash and creating an atmosphere of fear among the students when students gathered at the gate no. 7 entrance after guards beat a few students for not showing ID quickly. When the proctor took action against the guards due to student pressure and they were dispersing, the goons started attacking students and created a situation of unrest. Clashes moved to gate no. 8 and then back to gate no. 7 while Delhi Police situated near the entrances of both these gates and the guards inside watched the spectacle and did little to nothing when students were getting seriously injured. Vulgar abuses were also hurled by the administration's goons against some female students who were trying to defuse the situation and were informing peers about the objective of these goons. Even with the unrelenting repressive efforts by the Sanghi administration, the common students of JMI are taking time out and participating in the sit-in protests for campus democracy. These heinous measures by the administration are not shocking when the Jamia VC himself is a former member of ABVP and has openly supported laws like CAA-NRC. Fascist BJP-RSS has systematically infiltrated all educational institutes and the very pores of society.The repeated attacks on the democratic rights of students and critical voices throughout the country that include incidents from DU administration suspending a student for writing 'Scrap NTA' on wall to Allahabad University withholding results of about 60 students for being involved in protests to MANUU administration threatening and calling police on students for protesting against unhygienic hostel conditions, are part of the larger phenomenon of communal fascism plaguing our country today, where to distract common working masses from their real issues of education, unemployment, poverty, inflation, etc., and to stop them from recognising their real enemy, a false enemy figure, is created in the form of Muslims, and every dissenting voice is included in this. Only a revolutionary mass movement of student-youth and working masses based on their real issues can secure the limited democratic rights and defeat communal fascism decisively.Disha Students' Organization urges all justice-loving students and citizens to express their unconditional solidarity with the protesting students of JMI and their just demands.1) Revoke the decision for the sitting of the Disciplinary Committee against Saurabh and Jyoti.2) Revoke all the Show Cause Notices issued against different students for raising their voices against injustice.3) Revoke the Office Memorandum dated 29th August, 2022, and 29th November, 2024.4) Stop all kinds of witch-hunting against the students for raising their voices.5) Revoke the notice that penalises postering and graffiti making on Jamia walls.6) No further show cause notices shall be sent to students who gather and protest, exercising their fundamental right to expression, peaceful assembly, and forming organisations.........#Jamia #JMI #Democraticspace #JamiaStudents #CampusDemocracy ...
